Why Raynboe Swan — The Difference Houston Parents Notice
Why Houston Families — and Adults — Choose Raynboe Swan for Swim Lessons
Here’s what makes Raynboe Swan different — and why swimmers of all ages in the 77022 corridor and across Houston come back lesson after lesson.
Flexible Classes, Not Rigid Subscriptions
Most swim schools in Houston lock you into monthly auto-billing with 30-day cancellation windows, whether you’re progressing or not. At Raynboe Swan, we give every swimmer — child or adult — real flexibility. Pick the class that fits your current stage, and upgrade when you’re ready. You’re in control, not a billing system.
01
Every Swimmer’s Progress Rate Is Respected
We’re committed to meeting every swimmer exactly where they are. Whether it’s a little one who’s fearful of the water or an adult who never had the chance to learn, our instructors adjust technique, pacing, and teaching style to match each individual’s unique learning curve. Progress isn’t rushed — it’s celebrated at every milestone, at every age.
02
Local, Personal, and Community-Focused
Raynboe Swan is rooted right here in Houston, TX. We’re not a franchise or a national chain — we’re your neighbors. People who care about this community and every person growing up or thriving in it. When you call (281) 825-6961, you’re talking to someone who genuinely wants you or your child to succeed in the water.
03
Water Safety Is at the Core of Everything We Teach
Drowning is the second leading cause of accidental death among children under 14 in Texas — and a very real risk for adults who never learned to swim confidently. That reality keeps us motivated every single day. Beyond teaching strokes and technique, every lesson at Raynboe Swan is grounded in real water safety awareness — skills that could save your life or your child’s.
04
Small, Focused Instruction
No swimmer is just a number in a packed group class — whether they’re 4 or 44. Our lesson structure ensures every person, child or adult, receives meaningful, focused instruction every single session. Students consistently tell us they see more progress at Raynboe Swan than they expected — often in just the first few lessons.
05
View Our Schedule
See Available Lesson Times
All new swimmers are required to schedule an initial evaluation first. This helps us assess skill level. After the evaluation is submitted, swimmers may begin booking lesson classes. We recommend scheduling 2–3 times per week for steady progress, with additional availability for intensive-style scheduling.
Existing swimmers may book whichever service best fits their current needs and schedule.
About Raynboe Swan
About Raynboe Swan — Swim Lessons with Heart, Right Here in Houston
Raynboe Swan was built on a simple but powerful belief: every person in Houston — child or adult — deserves access to high-quality, personalized swim instruction that works at their pace. Not a pace designed around a franchise model or a billing schedule.
Located at 1017 Yorkshire St in Houston, Texas, we serve families, individuals, and adults throughout the greater Houston area including Near Northside, Heights, Northside Village, Greater Heights, Garden Oaks, and surrounding neighborhoods. We know Houston. We know how early and how long swim season runs here. And we know how important it is that every swimmer — at any age — has the water skills to stay safe.
Our instructors bring patience, enthusiasm, and a genuine love for working with people of all ages and starting points. We have taught students across every background — from toddlers who won’t let go of the pool wall, to adults who never had the chance to learn and are finally ready to take the plunge. Every fear, every learning style, and every goal is welcomed here.
At Raynboe Swan, we don’t just teach swim strokes — we build confidence. And in a city that lives as much outdoors and around water as Houston does, that confidence is something every swimmer — young or grown — will carry for the rest of their life.

Frequently Asked Questions
Swim Lesson FAQs — Houston Swimmers Ask, We Answer
Have questions before you enroll? You’re not alone. Here are the questions Houston kids, adults, and families ask us most often — answered honestly.
What should I expect during an evaluation (children)?
During your child's evaluation, we focus on comfort, water safety, and basic movement in the water. We'll gently assess their ability to float, control their breath, and respond to guidance. This helps us understand their current abilities and create a personalized lesson plan.
What should I expect during an evaluation (adults)?
Adult evaluations are relaxed and personalized. We assess your comfort level, breath control, and any prior experience. Whether you're a complete beginner or looking to refine your technique, we'll build a plan based on your goals and current abilities.
Do I need an evaluation before booking lessons?
Yes, all new swimmers — children and adults — are required to complete an evaluation. This allows us to understand your current abilities and create a plan based on skill development and accomplishments.
How often should lessons be scheduled?
We require a minimum of 2 lessons per week for consistent progress. Students are welcome to schedule 3 or more lessons per week for a more intensive approach and faster skill development.
How many lessons does a new swimmer need?
What should my swimmer bring to class?
Swimmers should come with a swimsuit, towel, and goggles. A swim cap is recommended for longer hair. All children who are not fully potty-trained are required to wear a Happy Nappy swim diaper along with a disposable swim diaper underneath, as this effectively prevents accidents in the pool. Even a minor accident in the pool can result in a 24-hour closure.
Do parents get in the water with their child?
No. Classes are 1:1 between the swimmer and coach. Parents wait in the designated seating area.
Where are lessons held?
Lessons are held at our private, heated pool by appointment only. Travel lessons may be available upon request.
What happens if it rains or there is bad weather?
Classes may continue in light rain. However, lessons will be canceled in the event of lightning or heavy rain where the bottom of the pool is not visible. Notifications are sent 1–2 hours before class.
What is your cancellation policy?
We require at least 12 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule a class. Late cancellations may result in the loss of that class.
Can I book online or do I need to call?
All bookings can be completed online through our app or website. We encourage all students to book, reschedule, and manage classes directly through the platform.
Can lesson packages be shared between swimmers?
No, packages are non-transferable and cannot be split between swimmers.
Is this program the right fit?
Children:
Some children may experience emotional moments during lessons, especially in the beginning, during transitions, or while learning new skills. This can include hesitation, fear, frustration, or tears as they build trust, confidence, and comfort in the water. These moments are a normal part of the learning process, and we guide swimmers through them with patience and support.
Adults:
Some adults may also experience hesitation, nervousness, fear, or frustration during lessons, especially when overcoming past experiences, fear of water, or learning unfamiliar skills. Building confidence in the water takes time, and emotional moments can be part of the process as comfort and trust develop.
If this learning process is not something you are comfortable with, this program may not be the best fit for you.
